“Make PLP images swipeable on mobile.”
That is the entire request. What normally takes a ticket, a repository, and a developer’s next free afternoon instead took one sentence and a few minutes on staging.
That request came through the public demo of Agent for Magento, the chat-based development agent scandiweb built for Magento (Adobe Commerce) stores. Over the first twelve days, thousands of conversations came through it by merchants putting it to work on the tasks that are normally in a backlog for weeks.
What we built
Agent for Magento is the first chat-based Magento development agent built for merchants rather than developers.
We built it for Magento store owners and managers who believe development should be faster and cheaper in the age of AI. Think about the last small change you asked for. It probably took days and cost a few hundred dollars. With our agent:
- Changes go live in minutes (under 5 minutes per average task, from request to approved deploy)
- It replaces your frontend agency workload
- It already handles heavier work too – extension installs, security patches, version upgrades, ERP, and CRM syncs
- You can test ideas without worrying about budget
- No technical knowledge required, because the agent asks the clarifying questions a senior dev would.
How it works
A store owner describes a change in plain language, by text or by voice. The agent asks clarifying questions where the request is ambiguous, then completes the work on a staging environment, and hands back something to look at. The merchant reviews it and confirms the deploy.
🚀 Quick takeaway
Every other AI tool in the Magento ecosystem either talks to your customers or assists your developers. This one takes the request straight from the merchant and returns working code.
Three steps, and none of them is “learn to code”:
- Describe the task in text or voice
- The agent clarifies and executes
- Review and confirm the deploy
Underneath it is 500K+ Magento tasks scandiweb has completed since 2009. The agent is not guessing at how a Magento store is put together, and it is not working from a generic training set, but reads your actual theme and your actual modules. As one in-house developer at a home goods store put it: “It actually reads our custom theme instead of guessing.”
How the market responded
Changes that used to take 3–4 hours now take about 10 minutes.
In its first days after launch, Agent for Magento got great early traction and adoption across merchants and agencies. Live Magento stores already use our agent to make changes to their stores at under 5 minutes average task execution.
Top use cases from the demo
Every one of the following most requested changes is a known conversion lever and also a half-day of developer time. If you have ever postponed a Magento homepage redesign because the estimate outweighed the campaign, we’re glad to ensure that bottleneck disappears.

Where Magento development goes from here
We think this is what a large share of Magento development looks like in a few years.
Not all of it – replatforming, complex B2B logic, and architectural decisions still need people who have done it before, and scandiweb will keep doing that work alongside ongoing Magento support and maintenance.
We’ve spent 17+ years building Magento stores, and we are glad to be among the ones to define what comes next for the platform.
Curious what it does with your store’s backlog? Learn more and try the live demo, which works on a sample store so you can hand it a real task without touching yours. Let’s talk – book a call or send a message, and we will walk you through the platform and review how the agent fits your team’s workflow.
