scandiweb partnered with Ionto to improve their B2B platform by upgrading their Magento store. The project also involves a complete website redesign and ERP and PIM system maintenance.
Project goals
Ionto’s main goal was to maintain their leadership in the Beauty industry by optimizing the customer journey and building a strong foundation for future growth through continuous digital infrastructure support. In addition, they aim to streamline backend operations to improve efficiency and ensure seamless integration between various systems.
Approach
We implemented a comprehensive, multi-faceted approach to achieve these goals while ensuring ongoing support.
Platform upgrade and integration
One of the first steps was upgrading Magento from version 2.2.10 to the latest release to provide Ionto with the most current features, enhanced security, and improved performance. Additionally, we integrated WordPress into the Magento platform, allowing the store and blog to function as a unified system, which also supported Ionto’s SEO strategy, ensuring their content would perform optimally across search engines.
Website redesign
scandiweb executed a complete redesign of Ionto’s website, focusing on creating a B2B-driven customer journey. The redesign applied to all three store views, ensuring a consistent and engaging user experience. We also enabled smart search and AI-powered product recommendations through Klevu to further enhance the user experience and increase average order values.
ERP and PIM system maintenance
A key focus of the project was improving the integration between Magento and Ionto’s existing ERP and PIM (product information management) systems. We worked on troubleshooting and overhauling the Infor ERP connector, which significantly reduced sync errors. At the same time, we maintained a PIM connector between Magento and Pimcore to ensure accurate and efficient product data management across the platform.
Ongoing support and optimization
The project didn’t end with the initial implementation. scandiweb provides continuous, on-demand support for Ionto’s eCommerce platform, ensuring that the ERP and PIM systems are regularly maintained, Ionto can operate without disruptions, and the platform remains optimized and ready for future updates.
To support data-driven decision-making, we have implemented Google Analytics 4, which provides Ionto with advanced insights into customer behavior and business performance. We have also developed a strategic eCommerce roadmap for Ionto, laying out a plan for the next two years to ensure continued growth and digital transformation.
Results
We have observed improved platform performance and customer experience for Ionto. Following the upgrade and redesign, the store’s health check score has increased from 57% to 84%. The ERP connector overhaul moved from frequent daily issues and sync errors to no errors occurring.
